Chapter History
Under the auspices of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, the Nu Delta Zeta Chapter received its charter on May 18, 1985. The chapter was introduced to the public at John Wesley United Methodist Church during a formal chartering ceremony in July 1985. The charter was granted by International Grand Basileus, Dr. Edith B. Francis. Regional Director, Macon Gardner and State Director, Barbara Crockett Moore facilitated the public chartering ceremony and installation of the chapter’s officers. The seven charter members were Cheryl G. Berry, Scarlet H. Black, Ethel T. Cooper*, Josephine Kerns*, Elvira Guyton (McGowan)*, Levelle B. Marshall, and Anne G. Pinson. *
Since its inception, the Nu Delta Zeta Chapter continues to thrive in the Greer, Taylors, and Traveler’s Rest communities and promotes the programs of the Sorority. The first programs that have supported scholarships for over fifty young women and men were the biennial Blue Revue Debutante Ball and our annual Fall Scholarship Dance (ZetaFest).
Now that the chapter’s membership has grown from the core seven members to thirty-four members to date, additional programs have also been added for scholarships and programs that support the health & welfare of the community. Over the years, Nu Delta Zeta, with its time and resources, has amassed thousands of volunteer hours and has earned numerous awards for community service and its commitment to the principles and ideals of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
